Nigeria\u2019s First Lady Oluremi Tinubu recently inaugurated an industrial leather processing and manufacturing unit in Mushin, a trading suburb of Lagos state.<\/p>\n
The hub is expected to create 10,000 direct jobs and position Lagos as the leather logistics capital in West Africa, according to a statement issued by Gboyega Akosile, special adviser on media and publicity to Lagos state governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.<\/p>\n
The facility will manufacture shoes, bags, belts, packaging bags and other leather products.<\/p>\n

\nWhen fully operational, it is expected to generate more than $250 million annually in export turnover.<\/p>\n
The hub would also provide solutions for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) struggling to meet bulk orders due to limited equipment and capacity, the statement said.<\/p>\n
Tinubu said the hub aligned with President Bola Tinubu\u2019s \u2018Renewed Hope Agenda\u2019 to accelerate diversification through industrialisation, digitisation, creative arts and manufacturing, according to domestic media reports.<\/p>\n
Sanwo-Olu said the hub, when fully operational, is expected to generate more than $250 million annually in export turnover, while over 150,000 artisans would benefit from training and start-up support to boost productivity.<\/p>\n
The governor vowed to expand the leather hub through continuous infrastructure upgrades, linking it to fashion districts, e-commerce platforms and rail services.<\/p>\n
