The global trade must take place and continue \u201cvoluntarily” and it should be devoid of any pressure tactics or tricks, RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat<\/a> stated on Wednesday, stressing a balanced approach to global commerce. Speaking on the second day of the three-day lecture series, \u201c100 Years of the Sangh Journey<\/span>\u2014New Horizons” in New Delhi\u2019s Vigyan Bhawan, he elaborated on the principles of self-reliance and Swadeshi.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cInternational trade should happen only voluntarily, not under pressure,” said Bhagwat, adding that \u201cself-reliance” is the key to the way forward for India.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201c<\/span>Aatmnirbharata<\/span> (self-reliance) or Swadeshi is important. Being self-reliant does not mean stopping imports. The world functions because it is interdependent. So, export-import will continue. However, there should be no pressure in it. Swadeshi means not importing goods that we already have or can easily manufacture. We should always support local businesses. Bringing outside goods hurts local vendors,” Bhagwat explained.<\/span><\/p>\n

The RSS chief\u2019s remarks echoed Prime Minister Narendra Modi\u2019s call for balancing economic self-interest with the promotion of local enterprise, highlighting the need for trade policies free from coercion.<\/span><\/p>\n

Beyond economics, Bhagwat also addressed the current global situation, noting that discussions on peace, environmental sustainability, and economic inequality are ongoing, yet concrete solutions look distant. \u201cFor this, we must think and deliberate authentically, bring sacrifice into life, and develop balanced intellect and dharmic vision,” he said, emphasising that thoughtful action and moral grounding are essential to meaningful global change.<\/span><\/p>\n

Mentioning India\u2019s international conduct, Bhagwat lauded the nation\u2019s restraint in the face of adversities. \u201cWe have always exercised restraint even in our losses. Those who caused us harm were helped in their crisis. Enmity arises from individual and national ego, but beyond ego is our Bharat or Hindustan.”<\/span><\/p>\n

He urged Indian society to serve as a model for the world, demonstrating that ethical behaviour and measured response can build credibility and trust.<\/span><\/p>\n

Bhagwat further underlined that the Sangh\u2019s reputation is rooted in consistent service and societal commitment. \u201cWhat the Sangh says, society listens to,” he stated, reiterating that the RSS\u2019s credibility has been earned over decades through steadfast dedication to social welfare.<\/span><\/p>\n

By linking self-reliance with ethical engagement, Bhagwat highlighted a vision where India not only strengthens its domestic economy but also sets a global example. The stress is on voluntary participation in trade, local empowerment, and moral leadership, creating a framework where economic growth and societal responsibility go hand in hand.<\/span><\/p>\n
