Legendary England fast bowler James Anderson entered his name in the history books on Tuesday (August 26) by becoming the oldest fast bowler in the world to take a wicket in the men\u2019s Hundred competition. The right-arm fast bowler from Manchester, who finished his career with 704 wickets in Tests and 269 in ODIs for England, picked up two wickets for Manchester Originals on Tuesday in the 30th league match of The Hundred 2025 played against Northern Superchargers at Headingley in Leeds.<\/p>\n

Anderson, who made his debut in The Hundred on August 6, 2025, broke the record of former Australian pacer Michael Hogan. Hogan was 41 years and 86 days old when he took a wicket for Southern Brave in the Hundred men\u2019s competition on August 25, 2022.<\/p>\n

The overall record of being the oldest bowler to take a wicket in The Hundred men\u2019s competition is held by Imran Tahir.<\/p>\n

The former South African spinner was 43 years and 145 days old when he picked up a wicket for Birmingham Phoenix in the 2022 edition.<\/p>\n

Anderson, who failed to take any wicket in his first two matches of The Hundred, opened his wicket account in Leeds by getting former English batter Dawid Malan caught out for three runs from four balls by Jos Buttler on the sixth ball of the match.<\/p>\n

No. 3 batter Dan Lawrence then smacked Anderson for two fours in a row, but on the ninth ball, Anderson trapped him in front of the wickets.<\/p>\n

The legendary English pacer bowled 20 balls on Tuesday but was not able to take any more wickets. He finished the game with figures of 2 wickets for 30 runs.<\/p>\n

His super show with the ball helped Manchester Originals restrict Northern Superchargers to 139\/8 in 100 balls, and then, riding on Jos Buttler\u2019s 70-run knock from 37 balls, the visitors chased down the 140-run target in 84 balls. Buttler added 99 runs in 48 balls for the third wicket with Rachin Ravindra (47 not out from 23 balls) and smacked 7 fours and 5 sixes during his stay at the crease.<\/p>\n
