Google is making it tougher for developers to push dangerous or fake apps<\/p>\n<\/figure>\n

Dangerous Android apps have become a big nuisance for Google in many countries and the company feels it needs to get tighter with some of its developer policies. So, we will soon see Google ask developers to verify before they offer their apps on the Play Store, or even make it available for sideloading. <\/span><\/p>\n

The company is bringing to cut down the issues linked to malware and financial scams that have plagued many users in countries like India, and more. Google is bringing the new verification process with an aim to fight these problems by making sure the developers are fully vetted to prevent malicious apps from making its way to the Play Store.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Dangerous Apps Gone: Will Google Succeed?<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Google feels that verifying developers will block the bad actors from infiltrating the Play Store with their malicious or fake apps. The idea is right but the execution is what really matters, especially when these scammers can easily bypass the regulations and plant the app without raising any alarm bells.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

All developers with apps offered through the Play Store need to comply. The big change is that even those who offer apps through third-party app stores for sideloading will have to follow these verification processes if they are to reach billions of users in the authenticated way. The company claims to have observed that quite a number of apps routed through other apps stores or the internet carry malware into the devices.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Google\u2019s idea is right, but we would like to see how the process actually works, if the developers are thoroughly verified, so that fake apps do not get more victims.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Google\u2019s new Pixel 10 phones are getting support for WhatsApp calls via satellite. Yes, the company\u2019s new flagship devices are the first to let you make video and voice calls using the messaging app through a satellite network. Calls and messages working over satellite are not new but nobody has offered this for WhatsApp and Google is now going to become the first brand to have it available later this month.<\/span><\/p>\n

The news has been confirmed with an official post from Google on X which even shows a clip of WhatsApp calls going through without any network. <\/span><\/p>\n
