After playing 103 Tests for India from 2010 to 2023, in which he scored 7195 runs, 37-year-old Cheteshwar Pujara called time on his cricket career on Sunday, August 24. Pujara\u2019s retirement, however, didn\u2019t come as a surprise because he was out of Team India for more than a couple of years, and it was always about when Pujara would decide to step away from the game.<\/p>\n

Pujara took to X on Sunday morning to confirm the news of him retiring from Indian cricket.<\/p>\n

After Pujara called time on his cricket career, many former and present-day cricketers paid rich tribute to him, and on Monday, his wife, Puja Pabari, also penned a heartfelt note for him.<\/p>\n

In the post going viral on the internet, Puja wrote that she is glad that Cheteshwar gave his all and played the game his own calm and dignified way.<\/p>\n

From knowing nothing about cricket to loving you and the sport through your eyes \u2013 your journey has been a true education in life\u2019s lessons for me, and I couldn\u2019t be more grateful to have gone through the highs and lows of your career together!<\/em><\/p>\n

I will miss cheering you on the field, following the unshakeable routines, and at times maybe also the anxiousness before a match\/series.<\/em><\/p>\n

For all the missed celebrations and adjustments made in order to prioritise cricket, lets make up for it now.”<\/em><\/p>\n

During his 15-year-long cricket career, Pujara scored 19 centuries and 35 fifties. He finished his career as India\u2019s eighth leading run-getter in the five-day format of the game. Pujara played a big role in India\u2019s back-to-back Test series wins in Australia in 2018-19 and 2020-21.<\/p>\n
