After playing 103 Test matches for India from 2010 to 2023, Cheteshwar Pujara announced his retirement from Test cricket on Sunday, August 24. The 37-year-old right-handed batter from Rajkot took to X on Sunday morning to confirm the news of his exit from Indian cricket. After bringing an end to his 15-year-long Test career in which he scored 7195 runs, Pujara, while speaking to reporters at his hometown Rajkot, said that he has no regrets about his career and also made a big revelation about his next role.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere are no regrets. I am very fortunate to have played for the Indian team for such a long time; not many players got that opportunity, so I am very thankful to my family and people who have supported me,” Pujara told reporters.<\/p>\n

Pujara has already started his work as a broadcaster. He made his commentary debut during the 2024-25 edition of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy and then donned the hat of an expert and commentator during the recently concluded India-England Test series as well.<\/p>\n

According to Pujara, he has retired from competitive cricket, but he plans to remain attached to the game.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am really happy that I am calling this off, but at the same time I will stay attached to the game. As a cricketer, I would like to stay associated withcricket, doing commentary, and I have started doing media work as well. I am not going to play cricket, but I will be watching the Indian team and commenting on it. The honour will continue,” he added.<\/p>\n

\u2018Best achievement\u2019<\/strong><\/p>\n

During his more than decade-long Test career, Pujara helped India win many matches and series. According to the former No. 3 batter of the Indian Test team, India\u2019s first-ever Test series win in Australia in 2018-19 is the best achievement of his cricketing career.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere have been many great moments on the field but if i have to single out one Test series on the Australian soil in 2018 was one of the best achievements of my cricketing career and one of the best memories for the India team as well,” he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was one of the best series I have been a part of.”<\/p>\n
