While consistent movement is crucial for bone and joint health, excessive intensity can backfire.<\/p>\n<p id=\"1\" class=\"story_para_1\">Dr. Rakesh Rajput, HOD &amp; Director \u2013 Orthopaedics at CMRI Kolkata, explains, \u201cMotivation for consistency and intensity of exercise can only be positive when within reason; overloading joints and bones in your 20s or 30s can lead to what we refer to as \u2018bone burnout.\u2019&#8221;<\/p>\n<p id=\"2\" class=\"story_para_2\">Although not a formal diagnosis, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.news18.com\/lifestyle\/health-and-fitness\/calcium-isnt-enough-the-surprising-nutrients-your-bones-crave-9509888.html\">bone burnout<\/a> is essentially the accelerated wear and tear of bones and joints, often manifesting as pain, stiffness, or early-onset arthritis.<\/p>\n<p id=\"3\" class=\"story_para_3\"><strong>Why Young Adults Are Prone To Bone Burnout<\/strong><\/p>\n<p id=\"4\" class=\"story_para_4\">Dr. Rajput notes, \u201cYoung adults often stress their bones and joints harder than older adults, often without realising the long-lasting effects. Excessive weight training, skipping warm-ups, abnormal posture, and ignoring early pain signals can compromise cartilage faster than normal.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p id=\"5\" class=\"story_para_5\">He adds, \u201cWe are now seeing 20- to 30-year-olds experiencing meniscus tears and premature osteoarthritis, similar to elite European athletes.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p id=\"6\" class=\"story_para_6\"><strong>Innovation In Treatment<\/strong><\/p>\n<p id=\"7\" class=\"story_para_7\">Lifestyle changes, physiotherapy, and preventative care remain the first line of management. But new technologies are changing outcomes for serious cases.<\/p>\n<p id=\"8\" class=\"story_para_8\">\u201cRobotic-assisted knee surgeries are revolutionising treatment,&#8221; says Dr. Rajput. \u201cThey offer greater accuracy, smaller incisions, and faster recovery. For younger patients, partial knee replacements or joint resurfacing can relieve pain while preserving more of the natural joint, delaying the need for total knee replacement.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p id=\"9\" class=\"story_para_9\"><strong>Prevention Is Better Than Cure<\/strong><\/p>\n<p id=\"10\" class=\"story_para_10\">Bone burnout is largely preventable. Key strategies include:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"listOncontentArticleUL\">\n<li>Balanced exercise schedules with strength, flexibility, and rest<\/li>\n<li>Proper footwear<\/li>\n<li>Adequate calcium and vitamin D<\/li>\n<li>Listening to your body and addressing pain early<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p id=\"12\" class=\"story_para_12\">\u201cPersistent pain should prompt an early consult with an orthopaedic specialist rather than masking symptoms with medication,&#8221; advises Dr. Rajput.<\/p>\n<p id=\"13\" class=\"story_para_13\">With fitness becoming a central part of young adults\u2019 lifestyles, awareness of bone and joint health is crucial. Overtraining without guidance can lead to irreversible damage. The good news?
