Gold, Silver Prices In India Today, August 21: <\/strong>Gold prices on Thursday saw a high volatility and suffered early losses, with traders eyeing US Fed Chair Powell\u2019s remarks at Jackson Hole later this week. In Mumbai, the price of gold stood at Rs 1,00,750 per 10 grams for 24-carat and Rs 92,300 per 10 grams for 22-carat.<\/p>\n

The price of silver stood at Rs 1,16,000 per kg.<\/p>\n

In the futures market on the MCX, gold futures (expiring on August 5, 2025) fell 0.23% to trade at Rs 99,080 per 10 grams, whereas silver (expiring on September 5, 2025) was trading marginally up by 0.05% at Rs 1,12,610 per kg in the morning trade.<\/p>\n

International Gold Prices<\/strong><\/h2>\n

In the international market, US spot gold eased 0.1% to $3,341.93 per ounce, as of 0202 GMT. U.S. gold futures for December delivery also lost 0.1% to $3,384.40.<\/p>\n

Fed Chair Jerome Powell is expected to deliver the keynote speech on Friday at the Jackson Hole symposium, to be held from August 21-23, with investors closely monitoring whether he backs measures to bolster the labour market or maintains a focus on inflation risks.<\/p>\n

Last month, two Fed officials \u2013 Vice Chair for Supervision Michelle Bowman and Governor Christopher Waller \u2013 voted for a quarter-point rate cut to address job market weakness, but their stance lacked broader support.<\/p>\n

The Fed has held rates steady since December, with CME\u2019s FedWatch tool projecting an 85% chance of a quarter-point rate cut in September.<\/p>\n

Gold typically performs well in a low-interest-rate environment and during times of heightened uncertainty.<\/p>\n
