World No. 1 Test bowler Jasprit Bumrah took to Instagram stories on Sunday (August 24) to pay a heartfelt tribute to Cheteshwar Pujara. 37-year-old Pujara announced his retirement from Indian cricket on Sunday morning. The right-handed batter from Saurashtra took to X to share a post via which he confirmed the news.<\/p>\n
Pujara played 103 Tests for India from 2010 to 2023 and scored 7195 runs with the help of 19 centuries. He played a big role in India\u2019s first-ever Test series win in Australia under Virat Kohli\u2019s leadership in 2018-19 and then again in 2020-21 under Ajinkya Rahane\u2019s captaincy.<\/p>\n
Bumrah, who shared a dressing room with Pujara on multiple tours, shared a picture of Pujara and captioned, \u201cCricket will miss you Pujji bhai. Wish you success on your next chapter.”<\/p>\n

Earlier in the day, India\u2019s head coach Gautam Gambhir, Sachin Tendulkar and Ravi Shastri, among others, also praised Pujara\u2019s contributions to Indian cricket.<\/p>\n
While Gambhir tweeted, \u201cHe stood tall when the storm raged, he fought when hope was fading. Congratulations Pujji,” Tendulkar wrote, \u201cPujara, it was always reassuring to see you walk out at No. 3. You brought calm, courage, and a deep love for Test cricket every time you played.
