Govinda and Sunita Ahuja have yet again hit the headlines due to divorce rumours. While the couple has yet to issue an official statement, the actor\u2019s lawyer has dismissed all separation rumours, stating that they, as a family, will ring in Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations together. Amid this, a throwback interview of Sunita Ahuja<\/a> has resurfaced, in which she revealed that she went from wearing miniskirts to sarees back in the day as Govinda\u2019s mother wouldn\u2019t like it.<\/p>\n

Sunita Ahuja<\/a> revealed that her style and wardrobe underwent a complete transformation after marriage \u2014 and the reason behind it was none other than Govinda\u2019s mother.<\/p>\n

In a candid revelation on Timeout With Ankit, Sunita Ahuja shared how she shifted from a modern, western sense of fashion to a more traditional one to respect her mother-in-law\u2019s wishes. \u201cI went from wearing miniskirts to sarees. That\u2019s why my husband used to hate me. I would tell him, \u2018I\u2019m from Bandra, you\u2019re from Virar, boss.\u2019 And he\u2019d say, \u2018No, my mother won\u2019t like it,\u2019” she recalled.<\/p>\n

In yet another throwback interview, she credited her mother-in-law for her marriage to Govinda. Sunita shared, \u201cAaj maine har jagah yahi bola hai Govinda se mera joh shaadi hua hai woh sirf meri mother in law ke wajah se. Kyuki unhone Govinda ko bola tha ki mere sei 3 saal affair kia tha, phir bola mei abhi shadi karta hu, thodi der baad karta hu. Mummy ne pehle bola agar tune Sunita ko chodha tu bhikari ki zindagi jiyega. Woh achi ladki hai (Today I have said everywhere that my marriage with Govinda happened only because of my mother-in-law. She was the one who told Govinda that since he had been in a relationship with me for three years, he couldn\u2019t keep delaying marriage \u2014 first saying he\u2019d marry now, then later. My mother-in-law told him, \u2018If you leave Sunita, you will end up living like a beggar. She is a good girl).”<\/p>\n

She added, \u201cMeri mother in law aur mei dono Gemini hai na.. meri tarah strong hai. Virar mei rehke baal bacho ko bada kia, she used to work, singing teach karte thei. Himmat wali thi. Woh puja karte thei aapko takat milta hai puja pat karne se (My mother-in-law and I are both Geminis\u2026 strong, just like me. Living in Virar, she raised her children while working \u2014 she used to teach singing. She was a woman of great courage. She performed puja, and doing puja gives you strength).”<\/p>\n

Govinda and Sunita Ahuja got married in 1987. They are parents to two children \u2013 Tina and Yashvardhan Ahuja.<\/p>\n
