Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju on Saturday launched a strong attack on Congress leader and Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi, saying that even his own party MPs feel \u201cuncomfortable” when he speaks in Parliament.<\/p>\n

In an interview with ANI<\/em>, Rijiju said Gandhi doesn\u2019t listen to advice, not even from within his own party, and accused him of making careless remarks.<\/p>\n

\u201cRahul Gandhi is the LoP and I dont want to criticise him. The SC scolded him when he called the PM \u2018chor\u2019, spoke nonsense regarding Rafael, and claimed that China occupied our land. He should speak like an Indian. I am no one to improve Rahul Gandhi,” he said.<\/p>\n

The senior BJP leader also said that several Congress MPs are left uneasy by Gandhi\u2019s style of speaking, fearing that it could damage the party\u2019s image. \u201cWhenever Rahul Gandhi says something, all his MPs become very uncomfortable. They are afraid that they will speak nonsense, and the party would have to pay the price for it.”<\/p>\n

The Union Minister also criticised the Congress party\u2019s conduct during the monsoon session of Parliament, alleging that they had no real interest in debate or discussion. He said many MPs, including some from the Congress and other parties, had approached him privately, saying they were unable to raise issues from their constituencies due to repeated disruptions and adjournments.<\/p>\n

He added that the government was ready for discussion and had repeatedly urged the Opposition to participate, but the disruptions made it difficult for parliamentary work to proceed.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf the Parliament does not run, the loss is for the Opposition. The government will pass the bills in the national interest. But it is not good if the bills are passed without discussion. We believe in discussion\u2026 The loss is for those who have to ask questions,” Rijiju noted.<\/p>\n

He stressed that the Parliament belongs to the Opposition too, as it is their role to ask questions and hold the government accountable. However, he said that role cannot be fulfilled if the Opposition chooses to walk out or create chaos.<\/p>\n

The just-concluded monsoon session of Parliament saw frequent adjournments, with Opposition parties demanding a discussion on the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in poll-bound Bihar. As a result, the Lok Sabha functioned for only 37 out of 120 available hours, with 31% productivity. Rajya Sabha logged 41 hours and 15 minutes of discussion, with 39% productivity. Despite the disruptions, 15 bills were passed during the session.<\/p>\n
