Gold, Silver Prices In India Today, August 22: <\/strong>Gold prices on August 22 saw a high volatility as traders await the US Fed Chairman Jerome Powell\u2019s upcoming remarks at the Jackson Hole Symposium. In Mumbai, the price of gold stood at Rs 1,00,760 per 10 grams for 24-carat and Rs 92,310 per 10 grams for 22-carat.<\/p>\n

The price of silver stood at Rs 1,16,100 per kg.<\/p>\n

In the futures market on the MCX, gold futures (expiring on August 5, 2025) fell 0.15% to trade at Rs 99,285 per 10 grams, whereas silver (expiring on September 5, 2025) was trading marginally down by 0.11% at Rs 1,13,580 per kg in the morning trade.<\/p>\n

International Gold Prices<\/strong><\/h2>\n

In the international market, US spot gold edged down 0.1% to $3,335.22 per ounce by 0210 GMT. US gold futures for December delivery fell 0.1% to $3,378.70.<\/p>\n

Investors refrain from taking any big bets ahead of Powell\u2019s speech at the annual Jackson Hole symposium that could offer fresh clues on the monetary policy path. Fed Chair Jerome Powell is expected to deliver the keynote speech on Friday at 1400 GMT (7:30 pm in India) at the symposium.<\/p>\n

Last month, two Fed officials \u2013 Vice Chair for Supervision Michelle Bowman and Governor Christopher Waller \u2013 voted for a quarter-point rate cut to address job market weakness, but their stance lacked broader support.<\/p>\n

The Fed has held rates steady since December, with CME\u2019s FedWatch tool projecting an 85% chance of a quarter-point rate cut in September.<\/p>\n

Gold typically performs well in a low-interest-rate environment and during times of heightened uncertainty.<\/p>\n
