Lungi Ngidi picked up his second five-wicket haul in ODIs against Australia (X)<\/p>\n<\/figure>\n

Fast bowler Lungi Ngidi starred with the ball in South Africa\u2019s 84-run victory over Australia in the second one-day international in the three-match series at the Great Barrier Reef Arena in Mackay on Friday.<\/p>\n

Ngidi picked up five wickets, with figures of 5\/42, which led to Australia being bowled out for 193 in less than 38 overs. This marked the fourth consecutive ODI where Australia failed to score over 200 runs at home.<\/p>\n

Ngidi, in fact, has a remarkable record against Australia in One Day Internationals. He has taken 26 wickets in 11 matches, boasting an impressive average of 16.96, a strike rate of 20.2, and an economy rate of just 5.03.<\/p>\n

His performances include two five-wicket hauls, placing him among elite bowlers such as Curtly Ambrose and Shane Bond, who have three each, and Trent Boult, who also has two.<\/p>\n

How South Africa Beat Australia In The 2nd ODI?<\/h2>\n

Matthew Breetzke (88) and Tristan Stubbs (74) scored half-centuries, guiding South Africa to 277 all out after stand-in captain Aiden Markram won the toss and chose to bat.<\/p>\n

Breetzke and Stubbs had built an 89-run fourth-wicket partnership after Xavier Bartlett removed Ryan Rickelton for eight, and Markram was dismissed without scoring. Breetzke achieved his fourth successive half-century, while Stubbs reached his first fifty in 16 ODIs.<\/p>\n

Breetzke missed his second ODI century, getting caught at deep mid-wicket off Nathan Ellis. Brevis fell for just 1 in Ellis\u2019 next over. Despite losing quick wickets, South Africa seemed poised to surpass 300 runs, reaching 233-5 by the 40th over. However, they lost four wickets for 31 runs within six overs, dropping to 264-9 in the 46th over.<\/p>\n

Wiaan Mulder scored a quickfire 26 off 21 balls, and Keshav Maharaj added 22 not out before South Africa was bowled out with five balls remaining when Josh Hazlewood clean bowled Ngidi.<\/p>\n

For the second time in the three-match series, Australia\u2019s batters underperformed, having lost the first game by 98 runs in Cairns.<\/p>\n

South Africa\u2019s pacers, led by Ngidi, disrupted Australia\u2019s top order. Ngidi dismissed Marnus Labuschagne in his second over, and Nandre Burger soon claimed Travis Head (6), who was caught at mid-on. Australia\u2019s struggles continued when skipper Marsh fell inside the batting powerplay, leaving the home team at 38-3.<\/p>\n

Josh Inglis (87) and Cameron Green (35) shared a 67-run partnership, attempting to stabilise the chase. Inglis survived a sharp catch attempt by Tony de Zorzi at short covers. Spinner Senuran Muthusamy broke the partnership in the 23rd over, catching Green off his own bowling. Alex Carey was caught smartly by Dewald Brevis at point, reducing Australia to 133-5.<\/p>\n

Ngidi returned to dismantle the lower order, ending Inglis\u2019 aggressive innings, which included 10 fours and two sixes. He secured three additional wickets, ensuring the series win for South Africa.<\/p>\n
