The DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai is all set to replace the Chinnaswamy Stadium in the upcoming Women\u2019s World Cup for all matches scheduled in the latter, after it failed to get permission from the police to hold matches, following the loss of 11 lives in a stampede on June 4 during Royal Challengers Bengaluru\u2019s IPL-winning celebrations.<\/p>\n

The DY Patil Stadium will host up to five games, which comprise three league games, a semifinal and presumably the final for the 13th edition of the Women\u2019s World Cup on November 2.<\/span><\/p>\n

The tournament dates of September 30 to November 2 remain unchanged, as do the other venues, which are the ACA Stadium, Holkar Stadium, ACA-VDCA Stadium and R Premadasa Stadium.<\/span><\/p>\n

Notably, the DY Patil Stadium has never hosted a women\u2019s ODI. The last fixture at this venue was a T20I between India and Australia women in December.<\/p>\n

\u201cNavi Mumbai has emerged as a genuine home for women\u2019s cricket in recent years. The support it has received during international fixtures and the Women\u2019s Premier League has been remarkable, creating an atmosphere that elevates the players and inspires fans,” ICC president Jay Shah said in a release.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWe stand at a pivotal moment in the journey of the women\u2019s game. This World Cup has the potential to be remembered as one of those defining milestones that shaped the sport\u2019s future, not only in India but across the cricketing world,” Shah added.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The final of the Women\u2019s World Cup will be held either in Colombo or Navi Mumbai on November 2, with the first semifinal all set to be in Guwahati or Colombo on October 29 and the second semifinal in Navi Mumbai on October 30. <\/span><\/p>\n

Pakistan will play the first semifinal in Colombo, should they qualify and if Pakistan do make the final, it will be staged in Colombo as well. <\/span><\/p>\n

If India and Pakistan set up a semifinal, it will be staged as the first knockout in Colombo. If Pakistan don\u2019t reach the semifinals, then all knockouts will be conducted in India. <\/span><\/p>\n
