After the Lok Sabha was adjourned sine die on Thursday, Speaker Om Birla hosted an informal tea gathering in his chamber, attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, senior ministers Amit Shah and Rajnath Singh, and floor leaders of NDA partner parties. Much like the previous session, leaders of the opposition chose to stay away from the interaction, marking their absence once again.<\/p>\n

According to those present, the Prime Minister described the session as a productive one, noting that several key legislations had been cleared. Among them, he placed particular emphasis on the Online Gaming Bill, underlining its far-reaching consequences and its direct impact on the lives of citizens. Such issues, he remarked, merited far more serious political engagement than they currently receive.<\/p>\n

The Prime Minister expressed disappointment that the opposition had opted for repeated disruptions rather than meaningful debate. He argued that the space could have been used constructively to deliberate on major bills, which directly affect people\u2019s welfare and the country\u2019s future.<\/p>\n

In his remarks, Modi also turned attention towards young parliamentarians, especially within the Congress. He observed that many of them are talented and capable, but are denied opportunities because of what he termed the \u201cinsecurity of the family.” Suggesting that these emerging voices may be making Rahul Gandhi feel nervous and insecure, the Prime Minister hinted at an internal reluctance to allow fresh leadership space to grow.<\/p>\n

Over multiple sessions, Modi has appealed to political parties to ensure smoother parliamentary proceedings, often stressing that disruptions silence young MPs who are eager to represent the concerns of their constituencies. He has underlined that this silence ultimately hurts democratic participation.<\/p>\n

The Prime Minister reiterated that the 2024 general elections brought a large influx of first-time MPs, many under the age of 50 and hailing from rural areas. With long political journeys ahead of them, he said, these young leaders represent the future direction of the country. For this reason, their active involvement in debates and reforms, he insisted, must be treated as a priority if India\u2019s democratic and developmental aspirations are to be realised.<\/p>\n
