A total of 14 teams are set to take part in the 2027 edition of the ICC Men’s ODI World Cup, which will be jointly hosted by South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia.<\/h2>\n

Eight venues \u2013 Johannesburg, Pretoria, Cape Town, Durban, Gqeberha, Bloemfontein, East London and Paarl \u2013 in South Africa will host 44 out of 54 matches of the ICC Men\u2019s ODI World Cup 2027, and the remaining 10 matches will be played in Zimbabwe and Namibia.<\/p>\n

The three countries of the African continent are set to host the next edition of the men\u2019s 50-over mega event in October-November 2027.<\/p>\n

The last ICC men\u2019s event in South Africa was played in 2009 when the rainbow nation hosted the ICC Champions Trophy. In 2007, the inaugural edition of the ICC Men\u2019s World Cup was also played in South Africa, and in 2003, South Africa was one of the hosts of the Men\u2019s ODI World Cup.<\/p>\n

In addition to that, South Africa has also hosted two Women\u2019s World Cups \u2013 the 2005 50-over competition and the 2023 T20 World Cup, when the Proteas lost to Australia in the final.<\/p>\n

Cricket South Africa (CSA) on Thursday announced a local organising committee for the 2027 ODI World Cup \u2013 and revealed that 44 matches will be played at eight venues in South Africa.<\/p>\n

Former South African finance minister Trevor Manuel will head the local organising committee.<\/p>\n

CSA chairperson\u00a0Pearl Maphoshe said, \u201cCSA\u2019s vision is to stage a global, inspiring event which will reflect the face of South Africa\u2014diverse, inclusive, and united.”<\/p>\n

The 2023 edition of the ICC Men\u2019s ODI World Cup was played across 10 venues in India. Ahmedabad\u2019s Narendra Modi Stadium hosted the tournament\u2019s opener as well as the final, whereas the two semifinal matches were played at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai and Eden Gardens in Kolkata. Dharamsala, Lucknow, Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Delhi and Pune were the other seven cities that hosted the men\u2019s 50-over mega event.<\/p>\n

This year, four venues in India \u2013 Guwahati, Visakhapatnam, Indore and Bengaluru (as of now) \u2013 and one in Sri Lanka (Colombo\u2019s R. Premadasa Stadium) will host the Women\u2019s ODI World Cup, and in the first quarter of 2026, India and Sri Lanka will be the joint hosts of the ICC Men\u2019s T20 World Cup.<\/p>\n
