Rahul Dravid served as head coach of the Indian men\u2019s cricket team from November 2021 to June 2024, and during the majority of that period, Rohit Sharma served as the captain of the Indian team in all three formats of the game. During his tenure, Dravid shared a strong partnership with Rohit, and the duo helped India win 10 matches in a row to qualify for the ODI World Cup final in 2023 and then in 2024 helped India end the 11-year-long wait for an ICC trophy.<\/p>\n

After his contract ended as head coach of Team India, Dravid returned as head coach of Rajasthan Royals in the IPL.<\/p>\n

Dravid, who is one of the greatest cricketers of all time, in a recent episode of Ravichandran Ashwin\u2019s YouTube show \u2018Kutti Stories with Ash\u2019, opened up about Rohit\u2019s captaincy and his experience of working with him.<\/p>\n

According to Dravid, Rohit deeply cared about his team, and he was always clear about how he wanted to lead the side.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was really good. Firstly, the thing with Rohit that I always felt was that he deeply cared about the team, and he was very clear about it,” Dravid said.<\/p>\n

\u201cRight from the first day, he was very clear about how he wanted to run the team and what was important to him. And that\u2019s really important in any relationship between a captain and a coach, especially the way I coach.”<\/p>\n

\u201cI always like to believe that it should be the captain\u2019s team. I\u2019ve been a player, and I\u2019ve been a captain as well, but a captain has to lead in terms of the direction he wants to go in, and you have to support him and help him in that,” he added.<\/p>\n

As per Dravid, Rohit\u2019s clarity of thoughts and plans made his job easier as head coach.<\/p>\n

\u201cOf course, you sometimes need to help a captain in terms of getting that clarity and understanding what is required. But with Rohit, I thought he was very clear about what he wanted from the team\u2014how he wanted the environment to be, how he wanted the atmosphere to be, and how he wanted things to run.”<\/p>\n

\u201cHe had so much experience over the years, and that really helped. He was very clear on those things.”<\/p>\n
