Air India and Air India Express together posted a loss before tax of Rs 9,568.4 crore in the financial year ended March 2025, according to the civil aviation ministry. In the last fiscal, Akasa Air and SpiceJet recorded a loss before tax of Rs 1,983.4 crore and Rs 58.1 crore, while IndiGo reported a profit before tax of Rs 7,587.5 crore.<\/p>\n

The figures were shared by Minister of State for Civil Aviation Murlidhar Mohol as part of a written reply to the Lok Sabha on Thursday. These are provisional figures.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Air India, which was acquired by the Tata group in January 2022, has recently been delaying and cancelling some flights at the last minute due to technical and maintenance issues.<\/p>\n

This comes despite repeated assurances from Air India CEO and Managing Director Campbell Wilson that the airline has carried out comprehensive checks on its Boeing 787 aircraft fleet.<\/p>\n

In a message to the customers recently, while listing out the various steps taken after the fatal crash of an AI-171 flight to London soon after take-off from the Ahmedabad airport, Wilson said detailed inspections of its Boeing 787-8 and 787-9 aircraft were done and \u201cno issues were found during inspection”.<\/p>\n

On August 18, Air India said it cancelled its Zurich-Delhi flight of August 17 due to a technical reason, days after the Tata Group-owned airline stated that it had carried out a detailed \u201cinspection” of its Boeing 787 aircraft fleet and \u201cno issues” were detected, according to\u00a0 PTI<\/em>.<\/p>\n

A Delhi-bound Air India plane, carrying Lok Sabha Member and Congress leader Hibi Eden among others, recently aborted take-off at the Kochi airport on Sunday due to a technical issue, according to the PTI<\/em> report citing officials.<\/p>\n
