Former England fast bowler Stuart Broad wants to move into a coaching role within the Three Lions set-up, hoping to produce the next Jofra Archer and James Anderson for the country. Broad, the second-highest wicket-taking pacer in Tests after Anderson, said he has spoken to England managing director Rob Key and confirmed his desire to work with the under-17 and under-19 players.<\/p>\n

Retired in the 2023 Ashes, Broad initially went into commentary and broadcasting full-time. Then, he was brought in as a consultant to the South African team during their World Test Championship final against Australia at Lord\u2019s, which the Proteas won to clinch their maiden ICC world title.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s certainly something I want to stay connected to, the coaching,” Broad told The Telegraph<\/em>. \u201cI\u2019ve chatted to Rob Key a little bit about doing some stuff with the younger bowlers in the England setups when the schedule suits,” added the tall former pacer, who has donned the role of a broadcaster after hanging up his spikes.”<\/p>\n

Broad didn\u2019t set a date on such a turn but hinted at a coaching role as early as 2026.<\/p>\n

\u201cI haven\u2019t set any sort of targets or dates of coaching or what\u2019s to come, but probably next year I\u2019d start looking at dipping my toe into it a little bit more,” he added.<\/p>\n

He believes he can play a role in accelerating the development of younger bowlers.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe U19s or even U17s \u2013 you really know what you\u2019re developing, and you\u2019ve got your base of technique, but the growth you can make between 15 and 20 is huge. What excites me the most is, where\u2019s the next Jofra Archer? Where\u2019s the next Jimmy Anderson? I watched on Instagram, Harry Moore, who\u2019s been out with a stress fracture. I look at him and go, \u2018huge talent, 6ft 6in, swings it both ways, hits good areas\u2019.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhere could he be in four years\u2019 time? Maybe even less than that? Where can you spot these players whose ceiling is very high?”<\/p>\n

He\u2019s not giving up on his dream to be a \u2018really good broadcaster\u2019.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe level of analysis that Ricky Ponting gives, the detail that he\u2019s going into. The tone of voice with Ravi Shastri \u2013 how he can go up and down and pick moments to really go. I\u2019m always looking and learning. I\u2019m definitely all in on the broadcasting at this moment in time, because I\u2019m certainly not at a level that I\u2019m comfortable with. I want to get better and better and be in those moments where I\u2019m calling great cricket.”<\/p>\n
