Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta was attacked during a public grievance hearing at her residence in Civil Lines in the national capital. Soon after the incident came to light, several Opposition members came out in support of the Chief Minister and condemned the assault, stating that there is no place for violence in a democracy.<\/p>\n

A man, said to be in his 40s, approached the Chief Minister during a \u2018Jansunwai\u2019 and attacked her. The Chief Minister\u2019s security personnel immediately caught the attacker, who had disguised himself as a complainant at the public meeting, and he is now being questioned.<\/p>\n

Following the incident, Delhi BJP Chief Virendra met Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and stated that her condition is stable; however, she is currently in a state of shock.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe police are investigating the identity of the person involved. The Chief Minister\u2019s condition is stable at present. She has certainly experienced some shock, which is causing a bit of concern. I have just met with her. The Chief Minister was not hit with a stone or slapped,” he said.<\/p>\n

Opposition Condemns<\/h4>\n

Reacting to the incident, former Delhi Chief Minister Atishi condemned the incident and hoped for strict action against the culprits.<\/p>\n

Taking to X, she wrote, \u201cThe attack on Delhi\u2019s Chief Minister Rekha Gupta is highly condemnable. In a democracy, there is a place for disagreement and protest, but there is no place for violence. It is hoped that the Delhi Police will take the strictest action against the culprits. It is hoped that the Chief Minister is completely safe.”<\/p>\n

AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal also condemned the attack and said, \u201cIn a democratic system, differences of opinion and Opposition are acceptable, but there can be no place for violence. I am confident that the Delhi Police will take appropriate action. I hope the Chief Minister is completely safe and healthy.”<\/p>\n

Delhi Congress President Devendra Yadav also reacted to the incident and termed it \u201cvery unfortunate”.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is very unfortunate. The Chief Minister leads the entire city of Delhi, and I believe that no condemnation of such incidents is enough. However, this incident also exposes serious concerns about women\u2019s safety. If even the Chief Minister of Delhi is not safe, then how can the common person or an ordinary woman feel secure?” he added.<\/p>\n
