Out-of-favour Indian batter Prithvi Shaw scored a century in 122 balls for Maharashtra in his first match. The 25-year-old right-handed batter came out to bat as an opener for Maharashtra in their first match of the ongoing Buchi Babu Invitational Tournament and completed his maiden century for Maharashtra in 122 balls on Tuesday afternoon. He crossed the triple-digit mark by taking a single on the fourth ball of the 45th over.<\/p>\n

Prithvi, after getting dropped from Mumbai\u2019s Ranji Trophy squad mid-season last year, decided to part ways with the Mumbai Cricket Association in June and, after seeking NOC from MCA, joined the Maharashtra Cricket Association.<\/p>\n

During his stay at the crease so far, Shaw has hammered 14 fours and 1 six.<\/p>\n

Apart from Shaw, Ruturaj Gaikwad also came out to bat for Maharashtra on Tuesday, but the right-handed top-order batter could only manage to score 1 run from four balls as a No. 4 batter.<\/p>\n

On Monday (August 18), Sarfaraz Khan also scored a century for Mumbai in their first match of the ongoing Buchi Babu Tournament against TNCA XI. Khan, who has played six Test matches for India in 2024, was dropped from the Test squad for the recently concluded five-match series against the English team in England.<\/p>\n

Sarfaraz faced 114 balls and, with the help of 10 fours and 6 sixes, scored 138 runs for the Ayush Mhatre-led side. His super show with the bat helped Mumbai post a total of 412 runs for the loss of five wickets in their 90 overs of the first innings.<\/p>\n

After representing Mumbai in the Buchi Babu Invitational Tournament in Tamil Nadu, Sarfaraz will play for the West Zone in the Duleep Trophy 2025. Maharashtra\u2019s Gaikwad is also included in the West Zone squad, which will be led by India all-rounder Shardul Thakur. If Sarfaraz manages to score big runs in the Duleep Trophy as well, then he will present a strong case for selection in the Indian team for the home series against the West Indies in October and South Africa in November.<\/p>\n
