Former Indian middle-order batter Ambati Rayudu has reserved big praise for India\u2019s ODI captain, Rohit Sharma. According to Rayudu, who, after playing 55 ODIs and six T20Is for India from 2013 to 2019, quit international cricket and donned the hat of an expert, no one can replace Rohit in ODIs.<\/p>\n

Rayudu feels Rohit\u2019s batting, his captaincy and the confidence he gives to all the players are extremely important, and the 38-year-old right-handed batter from Mumbai must captain the Men in Blue in the ODI World Cup 2027.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou need to look at who can win you the World Cup. If Rohit\u2019s captaincy can do that, then he should continue till 2027. There is no one who can replace Rohit in ODIs; his captaincy, his batting & the confidence he gives to players are all extremely important \u2013 Rohit must be the captain in the 2027 World Cup,” Rayudu said on Shubhankar Mishra\u2019s YouTube channel.<\/p>\n

The 2027 edition of the men\u2019s 50-over mega event will be played across multiple venues in South Africa, Namibia and Zimbabwe in October-November. A total of 14 teams will feature in the ODI World Cup in a couple of years\u2019 time.<\/p>\n

In the 2023 edition of the men\u2019s ODI World Cup, India finished as runners-up under Rohit Sharma\u2019s leadership. India won all nine league matches and the semifinal against New Zealand in Mumbai on November 15, 2023, to book a place in the summit clash, but in the title decider, they went down by six wickets against the Pat Cummins-led Australian team.<\/p>\n

In the 2023 ODI World Cup, Rohit scored a total of 597 runs to finish as the second-highest run getter. His batting average in the 2023 World Cup was 54.27, and he scored runs with a strike rate of 125.94.<\/p>\n

In the 2019 ODI World Cup, Rohit, with the help of five centuries and one fifty, scored 648 runs. But India failed to qualify for the final under Virat Kohli\u2019s leadership. In the 2015 World Cup as well, Rohit impressed with his batting, but India\u2019s campaign came to an end in the semifinal itself.<\/p>\n
