Shehnaz Treasury debuted in Bollywood with the 2003 film Ishq Vishk, co-starring Shahid Kapoor and Amrita Rao. She recently shared how the director of Ishq Vishk criticized her body and enforced a strict diet to make her appear thinner for the film. The actress-turned-influencer opened up about facing body shaming on the film set, recalling that she was told she was \u2018too fat\u2019, and needed to diet.<\/p>\n

In a conversation with ETimes, Shehnaz recounted the stress of portraying Alisha in Ishq Vishk, the prettiest girl in college. \u201cIn college, there was all that pressure too \u2014 you know, like Neeli neeli aankhon wali kaun hai wo \u2014 and then the director was like, \u2018You\u2019ve got to wear green lenses, you have to be perfect, you have to look great. Oh, you don\u2019t look good in some angles; actresses are supposed to look good in all angles,\u2019 as if it was my fault,” she said.<\/p>\n

She mentioned being told she was too fat, and needed to diet. She reflected on the absurdity and sadness of the situation, expressing disbelief over the pressures she endured. \u201cI was told, \u2018Oh, you\u2019re too fat, your belly is sticking out, you need to diet.\u2019 The other girl in the movie was so thin \u2014 they were padding her, putting pads on her \u2014 while they were trying to shrink me. So I was on some crazy diet. They wouldn\u2019t let me eat. It was so ridiculous. And it was so sad. Looking back, I can\u2019t believe we had to go through those things. In fact, the world we live in today is much nicer to actors and more accepting of all shapes and sizes,” she concluded.<\/p>\n

Ken Ghosh directed the teen romance film Ishq Vishk, which marked the Bollywood debut of Shahid Kapoor. The film follows childhood friends Rajiv Mathur (Shahid Kapoor) and Payal Mehra (Amrita Rao). As they grow up together, Payal falls in love with Rajiv, but he remains oblivious to her feelings. Shehnaz portrayed the role of Alisha Sahay.
