Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday (August 17) received a grand welcome from supporters as he inaugurated two mega National Highway projects\u2014the Delhi section of the Dwarka Expressway and the Urban Extension Road-II (UER-II)\u2014together worth nearly \u20b911,000 crore.<\/p>\n

Addressing the gathering, PM Modi said the new projects will greatly ease travel across the Delhi-NCR region. \u201cI congratulate the people of Delhi-NCR for this modern connectivity. When the world judges India, it first looks at our capital, Delhi. We have to make Delhi a model of a developed India. Our government has worked on this at multiple levels. In the past 11 years, travel has become easier in Delhi NCR,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

The Prime Minister also made a strong political statement, saying, \u201cAfter a long time, there is a BJP government in Delhi. The previous governments put Delhi in a ditch. The BJP government has to fill up that ditch and then progress will be seen. But I believe this team you have elected will pull Delhi out of that situation.\u201d<\/p>\n
Earlier, PM Modi personally reviewed the projects, accompanied by Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari and Haryana CM Nayab Singh Saini.<\/p>\n
He also interacted with construction workers at the Dwarka Expressway site, thanking them for their efforts, and later held a roadshow at Mundka-Bakkarwala toll plaza, where crowds cheered and chanted \u201cModi-Modi.\u201d<\/p>\n

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari hailed the projects, recalling how PM Modi\u2019s vision since 2014 had guided the ministry. \u201cToday is a matter of great pride for our ministry. After becoming Prime Minister in 2014, Modi ji directed us to prepare plans for world-class infrastructure. At that time, the situation was not good in Delhi, traffic jams and pollution were everywhere,\u201d Gadkari said.<\/p>\n
