Australia\u2019s star all-rounder Glenn Maxwell delivered a Player of the Match performance in the third T20I against South Africa.<\/p>\n

The 36-year-old equalled former opener David Warner\u2019s elusive feat and broke India T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav\u2019s six-hitting record on Saturday.<\/p>\n

What Warner Record Did Maxwell Equal?<\/h2>\n

While Maxwell showcased his power-hitting prowess, his exceptional fielding performance went largely unnoticed. With a remarkable piece of fielding, Maxwell took the crucial catch of Dewald Brevis, matching his former teammate Warner\u2019s record. His impressive effort marked his 62nd outfield catch for Australia, tying him with Warner for the highest number in the nation. To achieve this record-breaking catch, Maxwell had to put in significant effort to end Brevis\u2019 explosive innings. The young Proteas batter was tormenting the hosts with a barrage of boundaries.<\/p>\n

After Brevis dazzled with a brisk 22-ball fifty, Nathan Ellis stepped up to end his exploits. In the 12th over, Ellis deceived him with a short-length delivery lacking pace. Brevis attempted to pull the ball but found Maxwell sprinting and catching it with both hands, sending Brevis back for 53 from 26 balls.<\/p>\n

Which List Did Maxwell Surpass Suryakumar On?<\/h2>\n

Maxwell\u2019s contributions were far from over. Chasing a target of 174, Australia was struggling at 122\/6, and Maxwell\u2019s special performance was crucial. From the first ball, Maxwell demonstrated his ability to clear deliveries when Australia needed it most.<\/p>\n

During his outstanding innings, he hit two sixes, surpassing India T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav on the list of most sixes in T20Is. Maxwell now has 148 sixes, two more than Suryakumar. He ranks sixth overall, behind Rohit Sharma (205), Martin Guptill (173), Muhammad Waseem (168), Jos Buttler (160), and Nicholas Pooran (149).<\/p>\n

Maxwell brought the equation to run-a-ball before the 18th over but faced a challenging situation in the penultimate over. Standing at the non-striker\u2019s end, he watched as Corbin Bosch bowled a double-wicket maiden over, leaving 10 runs needed from six balls.<\/p>\n

Maxwell sprinted for a double and then struck a four. Lungi Ngidi responded with two dot balls, but Maxwell reverse-scooped the ball over the short third fielder, securing a 2-1 series win for Australia.<\/p>\n

Maxwell remained unbeaten with 62 from 36 balls, as South Africa suffered their seventh T20I series defeat in the last 10. His performance also ensured Australia maintained its unbeaten streak in men\u2019s internationals in Cairns, extending it to eight.<\/p>\n
