(PTI)<\/p>\n<\/figure>\n<p id=\"0\" class=\"story_para_0\">Former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister O Panneerselvam (OPS) has walked out of the BJP-led NDA alliance after his request to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the latter\u2019s recent visit to the state was declined, an incident that reportedly left his camp deeply upset.<\/p>\n<p id=\"1\" class=\"story_para_1\">OPS had written to the Prime Minister seeking permission to receive him at Tuticorin Airport, but the request was denied. In response, his faction held an internal meeting on Wednesday and announced the decision to exit the alliance.<\/p>\n<p id=\"2\" class=\"story_para_2\">The development marks a significant political shift ahead of the 2026 Tamil Nadu assembly elections. Speaking to reporters at Madurai airport, OPS confirmed he would make a formal announcement regarding his next political move in Chennai.<\/p>\n<p id=\"3\" class=\"story_para_3\">\u201cI will make an announcement on Thursday in Chennai,&#8221; he said, when asked whether he had made a decision on alliances for the upcoming polls, reported TOI.<\/p>\n<p id=\"4\" class=\"story_para_4\">OPS has maintained suspense around his future course, offering similar responses earlier this week at his Periyakulam residence.
