(File photo)<\/p>\n<\/figure>\n<p id=\"0\" class=\"story_para_0\">Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal on Thursday welcomed S&amp;P Global\u2019s decision to upgrade India\u2019s sovereign credit rating from \u2018BBB-\u2018 to \u2018BBB\u2019 with a \u2018stable\u2019 outlook, calling it a testament to the country\u2019s economic resilience and the government\u2019s commitment to improving the lives of all citizens.<\/p>\n<p id=\"1\" class=\"story_para_1\">\u201cCredit ratings agency S&amp;P Global\u2019s upgrade of India\u2019s long-term sovereign credit rating from \u2018BBB-\u2018 to \u2018BBB\u2019 and its short-term rating to \u2018A-2\u2019 from \u2018A-3\u2019 with a stable outlook is a welcome decision,&#8221; Goyal said in a post on X.<\/p>\n<p id=\"2\" class=\"story_para_2\">He added that this rating upgrade, which has come after an 18-year gap, has reaffirmed that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi\u2019s decisive leadership:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"listOncontentArticleUL\">\n<li>India is prioritising fiscal consolidation<\/li>\n<li>Maintaining a strong infrastructure creation drive<\/li>\n<li>And advancing an inclusive growth approach<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p id=\"4\" class=\"story_para_4\">\u201cThis is also a testament that at the heart of our journey towards Viksit Bharat lies our economic resilience and our government\u2019s unwavering commitment to ensure a better life for every Indian,&#8221; Goyal stated.<\/p>\n<p id=\"5\" class=\"story_para_5\">S&amp;P Global\u2019s upgrade, announced on 14 August, comes a day ahead of India\u2019s 79th Independence Day. The transfer and convertibility assessment has also been raised to \u2018A-\u2019 from \u2018BBB+\u2019.<\/p>\n<p id=\"6\" class=\"story_para_6\">\u201cIndia is prioritising fiscal consolidation, demonstrating the government\u2019s political commitment to deliver sustainable public finances, while maintaining its strong infrastructure drive,&#8221; S&amp;P said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p id=\"7\" class=\"story_para_7\">The agency said the stable outlook reflects its view that \u201ccontinued policy stability and high infrastructure investment will support India\u2019s long-term growth prospects.
