Amid the escalating row over Bihar SIR, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday shared a video online in which he is seen interacting and having tea with some of the omitted persons who have been declared \u201cdead” in the revised draft voter list.<\/p>\n

Crediting the Election Commission for this \u201cunique experience,” Gandhi said that he never got the chance to have tea with \u2019dead people.\u2019<\/p>\n

Sharing the 3-4 minutes long video, Gandhi captioned, “There have been many interesting experiences in life, but I never got the chance to have tea with \u2019dead people.\u2019 For this unique experience, thank you, Election Commission!”<\/p>\n

In the video, the Lok Sabha LoP was seen asking them how they discovered the Election Commission had \u2018killed\u2019 them. “I have heard that you guys are not alive. The Election Commission has killed you,” Gandhi said. One of the \u2018dead\u2019 said they found out only after the poll panel released a draft list of 65 lakh excluded names.<\/p>\n

Gandhi told one man, asking how many such cases exist. One person responded that in a single panchayat, there are at least 50 such instances. They alleged that in the constituency of RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, many living voters were shown as dead in the list provided by the Election Commission.<\/p>\n

The group also told Gandhi that they appeared before the Supreme Court on Wednesday to get their voting rights back. The apex court is hearing petitions against the special intensive revision of electoral rolls in Bihar.<\/p>\n

One of the group members urged the Congress MP and Mahagathbandhan alliance to “save Bihar” to which the LoP affirmed that they are trying to stop the electoral malpractices.<\/p>\n

The interaction came amid a row that erupted over Rahul Gandhi\u2019s “vote theft” allegations against the Election Commission and alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) in poll-bound Bihar.<\/p>\n

During a press conference on August 7, Rahul Gandhi levelled \u201cvote chori” (vote theft) allegations against the Election Commission and BJP-ruled Centre, citing the Congress\u2019 internal analysis. The LoP stated that the Congress expected to win 16 Lok Sabha seats in Karnataka but ended up with only nine.<\/p>\n

He said the Congress investigated seven unexpected losses, zeroing in on Mahadevapura, where he alleged vote theft involving 100,250 votes. Presenting Congress\u2019s research on voting in the Mahadevapura Assembly in Karnataka, Rahul Gandhi alleged “vote chori” (vote theft) of 100,250 votes.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the poll body has rejected the claims and demanded that Gandhi should submit proof of his allegations and a sign an affidavit.<\/p>\n

In a strong rebuttal last week, it said the Congress was trying to \u201cmislead” the people as they tried to mislead the Supreme Court in 2018, referring to part veteran Kamal Nath\u2019s plea.<\/p>\n

The Karnataka CEO on Sunday asked Congress MP Rahul Gandhi to submit documents to inquire into his “vote theft” allegations against the poll body.<\/p>\n
