Janhvi Kapoor has often been at the receiving end of social media trolling due to the discourse surrounding nepotism. Being Sridevi\u2019s daughter isn\u2019t easy and Janhvi has often acknowledged this privilege and the criticism that comes along with it. Even then, she continues to be called out for having it easy and being served her debut on a silver platter. That\u2019s perhaps why she shocked the internet when she gave them a glimpse of her intellect as she discussed how she desires to see a debate between Mahatma Gandhi and BR Ambedkar on casteism. <\/p>\n

Now, speaking exclusively to News18 Showsha, her Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari co-star Akshay Oberoi says that he too \u2018might have been guilty\u2019 of having a misconception about her. Recalling an incident, he tells us, \u201cWe were at a restaurant. I had ordered something and it took them some time to bring that to me. When the waiter finally came, he apologised to Janhvi and not me. I told her, \u2018It must be nice. Wow! Mera khaana nahi aaya but apology tumhe mil rahi hai.\u2019” <\/p>\n

But what happened next changed his perception of Janhvi. \u201cThese words just slipped out of my mouth and I didn\u2019t think so much about it. About an hour later, she came to me and told me that she wanted to share something with me. She realised that I felt bad but she reminded me that there\u2019s also a flip side to being who she is. Something had happened that morning and she was reminded of her mother and how great she is, by somebody, who was going to be working with us on that day,” Akshay shares. <\/p>\n

He reveals that being compared to Sridevi and the high expectations that people have from her is something that Janhvi is still dealing with. \u201cShe had been beating herself up for three hours before she reached the set. She kept thinking how she\u2019ll match up to her mother. That person had told her, \u2018I\u2019ve worked with your mother \u2018x\u2019 number of times and now I\u2019ll be working with you. So, let\u2019s see what you, Sridevi\u2019s daughter, do today!\u2019 Janhvi told me that it\u2019s hard on both ends. And that hit me like a ton of bricks,” Akshay states. <\/p>\n

In fact, the Fighter and Love Hostel actor says that getting to know Janhvi helped bust many myths about her. He lauds her for her humility and says, \u201cShe has no ego, no airs.” And what truly impressed him is that she\u2019s a voracious reader. \u201cJanhvi is very intelligent and well-read. You can talk to her about Kafka and Nietzsche. She knows them and has read about them,” he says. <\/p>\n

Akshay further adds, \u201cThere\u2019s a misconception we all carry about her. But there\u2019s struggle on both sides \u2013 for them to match up to the legends and for us to prove something. From that day on, I swore to myself that I won\u2019t just generalise and say that they\u2019ve it easy and I\u2019ve it harder. No one has it easy. Everyone faces difficulties. Sabka struggle alag hai.”<\/p>\n
