Former Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin was part of the Chennai Super Kings\u2019 team in IPL 2025. He was signed for Rs 9.75 crore by the Chennai-based franchise ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction, and in the 18th edition of the world\u2019s richest franchise cricket league, he picked up seven wickets in nine matches for them in addition to scoring 32 runs with the bat. Ashwin\u2019s performance by his own standards was a very forgettable one in the IPL this year, and as a result there were talks about CSK releasing him ahead of the IPL 2026 auction.<\/p>\n

It was reported last week that Ashwin has asked CSK to release him, and there were also reports that he could join Rajasthan Royals, for whom he played from 2022 to 2024, as part of a trade deal for Sanju Samson.<\/p>\n

Amid a lot of uncertainty over his future in the IPL as well as Sanju\u2019s, Ashwin, in a recent video on his YouTube channel Ash Ki Baat, gave a big update about his CSK future.<\/p>\n

When asked if he is going to be part of CSK in the IPL next year by Vimal Kumar, Ashwin said, \u201cMere hath mein kuch nahi hai. Maine sirf clarity manga hai\u2026 mera abhi communication kuch hua nahi hai. Clarity toh maine bahut pehle he manga. Maine kya kiya, mera role kaisa hai, mai kaise better kar sakta hu \u2013 ye sab sawal maine already puch liya hai kyuki maine last year 9 games khela tha. In all these years of playing in the IPL, that was the first year jisme maine sirf 9 games khela. Hamesha mein har game khela tha, jo bhi franchise ke liye mai khela. So clarity meri taraf se manga maine; IPL ke time par he mang liya tha.”<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cAbhi tak mujhe koi information nahi hai. Classified information nahi hai ki Sanju idhar (CSK) aa raha hai aur mai udhar (RR) ja raha hu.”<\/em><\/p>\n

If CSK decide to trade Samson ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction, then the Chennai-based team will have to sign him for Rs 18 crore \u2013 the price for which Samson was retained by RR ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction. Or they can trade him in a player deal, but for that Ashwin won\u2019t be enough because Samson\u2019s price in IPL 2025 was Rs 18 crore, whereas Ashwin was signed for Rs 9.75 crore. CSK will have to give Rs 8.25 crore more to RR in addition to Ashwin or include players worth Rs 8.25 crore more to acquire Samson\u2019s services.<\/p>\n
