Rajinikanth\u2019s upcoming mega release Coolie, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, is gathering steam at the box office in both southern and northern territories. As of 11:30 pm on August 11, Coolie had sold 13,500 tickets in top Hindi cinema chains like PVRInox and Cinepolis for its opening day. Trade analysts expect this figure to rise to nearly 50,000 tickets by release day, translating to a Hindi box office debut above Rs 6 crore. This is especially notable given its face-off with Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR\u2019s War 2.<\/p>\n

Scheduled to release on August 14, Coolie is being positioned as a \u201cdormant volcano” ready to erupt globally. Presales across all languages are exceptional, with industry insiders predicting an opening day close to Rs 140 crore worldwide. The film is also tipped to challenge Leo\u2019s record for the biggest-ever Kollywood opener\u2014a contest that could become one of the most talked-about box office battles in recent years.<\/p>\n

Rajinikanth, last seen in Vettaiyan, is aiming for a spectacular comeback, while Lokesh Kanagaraj continues his streak of delivering ever-bigger hits. Remarkably, he has maintained a two-year gap between major releases, with Leo arriving in October 2023 and Coolie now hitting screens just 22 months later.<\/p>\n
