Harshit Rana has won two of the three matches that he has led in<\/p>\n<\/figure>\n

North Delhi Strikers skipper Harshit Rana has said that he has admired how Rohit Sharma and Shreyas Iyer have given their players a free hand as captains, and that is one thing he would like to emulate and implement during his captaincy stint in the ongoing Delhi Premier League.<\/p>\n

Under Harshit<\/a>\u2018s captaincy, North Delhi have registered two wins in three games, a good start to the youngster\u2019s leadership tenure.<\/p>\n

Having lost their first match to the Central Delhi Kings, North Delhi made a gracious comeback to register two wins in two games.<\/p>\n

\u201cI find Rohit and Shreyas bhai<\/em> very similar, in the sense that they give a free hand to the players. <\/span>I like that a lot and try to follow that. <\/span>But I can\u2019t (laughs),” Harshit said in reply to a query from News18 CricketNext<\/em> at the post-match press conference on Sunday, August 10.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Harshit made his Test and ODI debut under Rohit in December 2024 and February 2025, respectively, while playing his sole T20I under Suryakumar Yadav. He has also played in the Ranji Trophy under Yash Dhull, Vijay Hazare Trophy under Shikhar Dhawan, as well as under Iyer for the Kolkata Knight Riders in their triumphant 2024 season.<\/p>\n

Earlier in Sunday\u2019s game, put into bat first, North Delhi scored 179\/8, riding on Sarthak Ranjan\u2019s half-century and a cameo from Harshit, where he scored two crucial boundaries in the final over.<\/p>\n

In the chase, Purani Dilli were reduced to 13\/3 in the third over before skipper Vansh Bedi and Pranav Pant added 58 runs for the fourth wicket. After the former was dismissed by Arjun Rapria in the ninth over, Purani Dilli again collapsed to find themselves at 116\/8 in the 16th over.<\/p>\n

Lalit Yadav and Rajneesh Dadar then added 34 runs for the ninth wicket but after the former was dismissed by Harshit in the final over, Purani Dilli folded for 152, handing North Delhi a 27-run win. Deepanshu Gulia picked three wickets.<\/p>\n

Asked if the decision at the toss cost them the match, Vansh told\u00a0News18 CricketNext,\u00a0<\/em>\u201cIt was the perfect decision for us. <\/span>There was a lot of difference on the pitch. The wicket was playing well. It was perfect to bat. <\/span>We were getting a bit of help in the initial overs. The ball was moving. I guess it was the right decision.”<\/span><\/p>\n
