Star Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell was not able to do much with the bat in the first T20I against South Africa on Sunday (August 10), but he made his presence felt in the contest by taking a spectacular catch in the last over of the match, which the Aussies won by 17 runs to take a 1-0 lead in the home series.<\/p>\n

In a video going viral on the internet, Maxwell can be seen completing a catch which reminded fans of Suryakumar Yadav\u2019s catch from the T20 World Cup 2024 final against the same opposition.<\/p>\n

Here\u2019s a look:<\/p>\n

The incident took place on the second ball of the last over of the match bowled by Ben Dwarshuis. Left-handed wicketkeeper-batter Ryan Rickelton was on strike. The South African opener tried to play a big shot to add six runs to his team\u2019s tally, but Maxwell had other plans.<\/p>\n

The Punjab Kings star not only prevented the definite six but also completed the catch cleanly to end Rickelton\u2019s fighting knock of 71 runs from 55 balls and also cancel South Africa\u2019s chances of winning the match.<\/p>\n

9 wins in a row<\/strong><\/p>\n

The win over South Africa on Sunday was Australia\u2019s ninth win in a row in T20Is. This is the first time in history that Aussies have won nine T20Is in a row.<\/p>\n

The streak started on November 14, 2024, when, under Josh Inglis\u2019 leadership, Australia defeated Pakistan by 29 runs in Brisbane. The Aussies then won two more matches against the Men in Green, and in July 2025, they won five matches in a row against the West Indies.<\/p>\n

The overall record of most consecutive wins in T20I matches is held by Uganda. The African team, which featured in the 2024 T20 World Cup, has won 17 matches in a row. Spain is in second place with 15 wins, and Japan won 14 matches in a row from May 9, 2024, to May 9, 2025.<\/p>\n

Among Test-playing nations, India won 12 T20I matches in a row from November 3, 2021, to February 27, 2022.<\/p>\n
