Reserve Bank of India (RBI) data for April 2025 shows travel spending crossed $1.3 billion, making up over 50% of total outward flows under the Liberalised Remittance Scheme (LRS).<\/p>\n<p>Vinay Bagri, Co-Founder and CEO of Niyo, said this trend is visible in card spending patterns.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re seeing growing spends by young travellers, students, and working professionals. Rising outbound spends reflect India\u2019s deepening global participation and growing consumer confidence,\u201d he said.<br \/>&#13;\n<\/p>\n<p>\nWhile total outward remittances for FY 2024\u201325 dipped 6.85% to $29.56 billion, travel continues to lead.<\/p>\n<p>Travel remittances stood at about $16.96 billion \u2014 roughly 57% of total outward flows. March and April 2025 saw a rebound, with March recording a 12.3% year-on-year rise and April an 11% jump in travel-related remittances.<\/p>\n<p>Karan Agarwal, Director at Cox &amp; Kings, said strong travel demand is driving these numbers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cConsumers are\u00a0 spending on long-haul, short-haul, experiential and luxury vacations. More customers are going further and staying longer. Travel continues to anchor the outbound remittance story, despite some moderation in education, medical and other components,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\nHospitality industry players confirm that a large share of forex is going into luxury travel and wellness stays.<\/p>\n<p><strong>ALSO READ |\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbctv18.com\/personal-finance\/the-wealth-company-gets-sebi-nod-to-launch-mutual-fund-business-19639430.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Wealth Company gets SEBI nod to launch mutual fund business<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Vaipanya Kongkwanyuen, GM at Thailand\u2019s Chiva-Som Hua Hin, said Indian arrivals rose from 1.6 million in 2023 to 2.1 million in 2024, with sustained growth this year. \u201cAffluent Indian guests are spending more per day on wellness treatments and bespoke services,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>In Sri Lanka, Chamindra Goonewardene, VP at Resplendent Ceylon, said Indian guests are staying longer and spending more than before. \u201cWe see more high-net-worth travellers looking for immersive wellness and nature-led experiences. The average length of stay and daily spend have both increased,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>The Maldives is seeing similar trends. Dermot Birchall, GM at Kandima Maldives, said Indian guests are spending more on private dining, spa services and milestone celebrations. \u201cAverage stays are longer and guests want privacy, wellness and curated experiences,\u201d he said.<br \/>&#13;\n<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2626\" data-end=\"3075\">Alexia Lain\u00e9, Director of Courchevel Tourism, said Mediterranean destinations like Lo\u0161inj and alpine resorts are also seeing more Indian guests choose \u201cpurposeful wellness and nature,\u201d instead of short sightseeing breaks. \u201cStays are becoming longer, but less programmed,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\nLara Soldi\u010di\u0107 Vodari\u0107, Director of Sales at Lo\u0161inj Hotels &amp; Villas in Croatia, added: \u201cGuests are asking for better, not more \u2014 more privacy, more intentional design, and more space to simply be.\u201d Lo\u0161inj\u2019s spa residences, secluded sea-view villas and forest retreats are among the options drawing premium Indian guests.<\/p>\n<p>Srikanth Devarapalli, General Manager at JW Marriott Maldives Kaafu Atoll Island Resort, said travellers want \u201cpersonalised and transformative journeys\u201d with curated dining, private marine encounters and in-villa celebrations. \u201cIt\u2019s not just about where they stay \u2014 it\u2019s about how they feel,\u201d he said.
