Abhimanyu Easwaran was part of India\u2019s Test squad for the five-match series against Australia in the 2024-25 edition of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, and he also travelled with the Indian team for the five-match series against England as well, but he didn\u2019t get a chance to play any match. The 29-year-old right-handed batter from Bengal, who has 7841 runs to his name in 103 first-class matches played so far, was expecting a chance against England in the fifth and final Test of the recently concluded series but was ignored by Indian team management, which instead included Karun Nair again after dropping him to the bench for the fourth red-ball match in Manchester.<\/p>\n

The snub for the fifth Test \u201cpissed off” Easwaran, his father Ranganathan Parameshwaran Easwaran revealed in a conversation with Vickey Lalwani on his YouTube channel.<\/p>\n

Revealing the details of his chat with Easwaran, Ranganathan said that after getting ignored for the fifth Test, his son was disappointed for a while, but he quickly shifted focus to the Duleep Trophy.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy son will fly to Bengaluru to prepare for the Duleep Trophy. He\u2019ll spend 10-12 days there, return to Dehradun for a few days, and then head back. He was disturbed after not being picked for the fifth Test\u2014he was expecting that call. I told him, \u2018Son, you have lived your dream.\u2019 He replied, \u2018I understand. I\u2019ve lived my dream for 23 years, and not getting picked for one or two matches won\u2019t shatter that.'”<\/p>\n

\u201cHe was pissed off because he wasn\u2019t picked. When I called him, he said, \u2018Dad, I still haven\u2019t found a place.\u2019”<\/p>\n

Ranganathan said his son was disappointed after not getting a chance in England, but head coach Gautam Gambhir has assured him that he will get an opportunity in the future.<\/p>\n

\u201cGautam Gambhir, when he spoke to my son, assured him, \u2018See, you\u2019re doing the right kind of things; you\u2019ll get your turn; you\u2019ll get a long run. \u2018I\u2019m not the one who will push you out after one or two matches. I\u2019ll give you a long rope.\u2019 That\u2019s what my son communicated to me. The entire coaching team assured him that he\u2019ll get his due; he\u2019ll get his long run. That\u2019s the best I can say. My son has been waiting for 4 years. He\u2019s put in 23 years of hard work,” Ranganathan added.<\/p>\n
