The Maharaja T20 has been moved from Bengaluru to Mysuru after the M Chinnaswamy Stadium failed to get a clearance from the police to hold the tournament in light of the stampede that took place on June 4 outside the venue during the Royal Challengers Bengaluru\u2019s IPL 2025 triumph, according to a report in\u00a0ESPNCricinfo.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

Team owners were informed of the change earlier this week, giving them just a few days to sort out logistics.<\/span><\/p>\n

Over the past week, most teams<\/span>, <\/span>except the Mysuru Warriors, have been training at various venues across Bengaluru.<\/span><\/p>\n

The inability to bag approval to host games at the <\/span>Chinnaswamy<\/span> Stadium could deal a major blow to the Karnataka State Cricket Association, with the venue all set to stage five Women\u2019s World Cup matches<\/span>, <\/span>including the opener and a semifinal<\/span>, beginning September 30. <\/span><\/p>\n

According to the report, the International Cricket Council is not worried just yet about the possibility of moving the matches out of Bengaluru.<\/p>\n

The KSCA has come under intense scrutiny since the tragic incident on June 4, when 11 people lost their lives and over 50 were injured near the stadium during Bengaluru\u2019s IPL title celebrations. <\/span><\/p>\n

The stampede led to the resignation of two KSCA office bearers, who stepped down citing moral responsibility.<\/span><\/p>\n

In late July, a committee appointed by the Karnataka government to probe the stampede declared the <\/span>Chinnaswamy<\/span> Stadium unfit for hosting large-scale events.<\/span><\/p>\n

The commission advised shifting large-scale events to venues better equipped to manage substantial crowds.<\/span><\/p>\n

The late switch in venues for the Maharaja T20 has led to the Karnataka State Cricket Association having to arrange for makeshift stands.<\/span><\/p>\n

The KSCA have been preparing tracks as well, squares and temporary broadcast facilities at the <\/span>Wadeyar<\/span> Stadium in Mysuru.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Maharaja T20 is all set to showcase multiple top Karnataka stars, including Karun Nair and <\/span>Prasidh<\/span> Krishna, who will turn out for the Mysuru Warriors after their return from India\u2019s Test series in England.<\/span><\/p>\n
