Built from pale red and yellow Bharatpur sandstone, the arch commemorates the 84,000 soldiers of the British Indian Army who lost their lives in the First World War (1914\u20131918) and the Third Anglo-Afghan War (1919), with 13,313 individual fallen soldiers’ names inscribed directly into its stone walls.
