OTEXA data showed Bangladesh had recorded negative year-on-year growth since January, with the steepest falls of 17 per cent in both February and April, while shipments in May and June fell 6.0 per cent and 5.6 per cent respectively, as per local media reports.<\/p>\n<p>Bangladesh&#8217;s apparel exports to the US rose to $734.6 million in August 2026 from $660.9 million a year earlier, OTEXA data showed.&#13;<br \/>\nChina and Vietnam posted modest gains, while Cambodia and India declined in August shipments to the US.&#13;<br \/>\nFor January-August, Bangladesh shipments were about $5.39 billion, down 4.17 per cent from about $5.62 billion.<\/p>\n<p>Among other major Asian apparel suppliers to the US, China increased shipments by 2.3 per cent year-on-year to $1.07 billion in August 2026 from $1.05 billion a year earlier, while Vietnam&#8217;s exports edged up to $1.61 billion from $1.59 billion, OTEXA data showed. Cambodia&#8217;s apparel exports to the US fell 7.8 per cent to $531.2 million from $576.4 million, and India&#8217;s shipments dropped 31.5 per cent to $291.1 million from $424.8 million.<\/p>\n<p>Bangladesh was facing pressure in the European Union market because of uncertainty related to least developed country graduation and competition with India due to an EU-India free trade agreement.<\/p>\n<p>For January-August 2026, Bangladesh&#8217;s apparel exports to the US remained below the year-earlier level despite the August rebound. Shipments stood at about $5.39 billion, down 4.17 per cent from around $5.62 billion in the corresponding period of 2025, according to OTEXA.<\/p>\n<p>China recorded the sharpest cumulative decline among the major exporters covered by the data, with January-August shipments to the US falling over 29 per cent to about $5.63 billion. Vietnam was broadly stable at about $10.98 billion, compared with $11.03 billion a year earlier, a decline of less than 1.0 per cent.
