Lockers have been installed at entry gates for visitors to deposit their electronics, while vehicles operating night stays will carry portable lockers managed by designated drivers.

Entry quotas will remain capped across two daily shifts. In the Phanto zone, 50 gypsies are permitted per shift (100 daily), while Hathi Dangar will accommodate 25 vehicles in the morning and 25 in the evening (50 daily). Forest authorities have also initiated mandatory document scrutiny for all safari vehicles, with access restricted exclusively to verified and registered operators.

Alongside day safaris, night-stay accommodations have resumed at Phanto, which houses 19 rooms across five categories: three rooms across two tree houses, five eco-huts, four rooms in the British-era building, two rooms in the old building, and five tented lodgings.

All-day safari permits and accommodation bookings continue to be managed through the official portal (phantoecozone.in). Located roughly 26 km from Ramnagar via Mohan Nagar, Maldhan, the two zones form an integral, contiguous corridor of the greater Corbett landscape, known for elephant, tiger, and bird sightings.

Also Read: Ladakh resumes helicopter services to boost connectivity in winter months

Source link

The Phanto and Hathi Dangar ecotourism zones under Uttarakhand’s Terai West Forest Division reopened for tourists on October 1 following their routine monsoon closure, introducing a total ban on mobile phones and recording equipment inside the safari areas.
