The feature is available on domestic and international, one-way and round-trip bookings. Travellers can opt for it at the time of booking, starting at \u20b9229 per person for domestic flights and \u20b9349 for international flights.<\/p>\n
MakeMyTrip said it will track the fare from booking until six hours before departure. If the fare falls, travellers will be notified, and the difference will be refunded to the original payment method after the trip, subject to the applicable terms.<\/p>\n
For domestic one-way bookings, the refund is capped at \u20b92,500 per person, while the cap is \u20b95,000 for domestic round trips. For international bookings, the limits are \u20b93,000 for one-way and \u20b96,000 for round-trip bookings.<\/p>\n
The feature has been rolled out following a testing phase. MakeMyTrip said some travellers who opted for the protection saw fares fall on both domestic and international flights.<\/p>\n

Cleartrip’s Price Beat Offer<\/strong><\/p>\n Cleartrip, the Flipkart-owned online travel platform, has also introduced a Price Beat Offer with its holiday packages. Under the offer, if a traveller finds the same itinerary available at a lower price elsewhere, Cleartrip says it will beat that price, subject to its terms and conditions.<\/p>\n The offer comes as Cleartrip enters the holiday packages segment, combining flights, hotels, activities and transfers in a single itinerary that travellers can customise.<\/p>\n For travellers comparing packages, the \u201csame itinerary\u201d condition is important because the price of a holiday can depend on the hotel, flights, activities and transfers included. Cleartrip’s offer applies to the itinerary being compared, rather than simply any lower-priced holiday.<\/p>\n What do HappyFares, Goibibo and EaseMyTrip offer<\/strong><\/p>\n Other online travel platforms offer similar customers protection against airfare fluctuations.<\/p>\n HappyFares offers a Price Drop Protection feature that tracks the exact flight after booking and refunds the fare difference if the price falls. The platform says it checks the fare every hour until six hours before departure, with refunds issued after the trip to the original payment method.<\/p>\n HappyFares charges \u20b9199 for the protection and caps the refund at \u20b92,500 per booking.<\/p>\n Meanwhile, Goibibo has a lowest-price guarantee on international flight bookings departing from India. If a customer finds a lower fare for the same itinerary on another India-based online travel agency within 24 hours of booking, Goibibo says it will refund 10 times the difference, subject to a maximum of \u20b910,000. The refund is credited to the Goibibo Wallet.<\/p>\n The guarantee applies only when the competing fare meets specified conditions around the itinerary, departure dates, travel time, journey duration and number of stops.<\/p>\n EaseMyTrip<\/a> also offers fare protection through its ReSave service, which it said allows customers to benefit from eligible fare drops after completing a booking.
