This was <span class=\"startxt\">*<\/span><span class=\"startxt\">*<\/span>.<span class=\"startxt\">*<\/span> per cent below the full-year <span class=\"startxt\">*<\/span><span class=\"startxt\">*<\/span><span class=\"startxt\">*<\/span><span class=\"startxt\">*<\/span> average of $<span class=\"startxt\">*<\/span><span class=\"startxt\">*<\/span>.<span class=\"startxt\">*<\/span><span class=\"startxt\">*<\/span> per kg and substantially lower than the levels of around $<span class=\"startxt\">*<\/span><span class=\"startxt\">*<\/span> per kg recorded in <span class=\"startxt\">*<\/span><span class=\"startxt\">*<\/span><span class=\"startxt\">*<\/span><span class=\"startxt\">*<\/span> and <span class=\"startxt\">*<\/span><span class=\"startxt\">*<\/span><span class=\"startxt\">*<\/span><span class=\"startxt\">*<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>The increase followed Argentina\u2019s decision in March <span class=\"startxt\">*<\/span><span class=\"startxt\">*<\/span><span class=\"startxt\">*<\/span><span class=\"startxt\">*<\/span> to reduce import duties on clothing from <span class=\"startxt\">*<\/span><span class=\"startxt\">*<\/span> per cent to <span class=\"startxt\">*<\/span><span class=\"startxt\">*<\/span> per cent under Decree <span class=\"startxt\">*<\/span><span class=\"startxt\">*<\/span><span class=\"startxt\">*<\/span>\/<span class=\"startxt\">*<\/span><span class=\"startxt\">*<\/span><span class=\"startxt\">*<\/span><span class=\"startxt\">*<\/span>. The government also lowered duties on fabrics from <span class=\"startxt\">*<\/span><span class=\"startxt\">*<\/span> per cent to <span class=\"startxt\">*<\/span><span class=\"startxt\">*<\/span> per cent and on different yarn categories from <span class=\"startxt\">*<\/span><span class=\"startxt\">*<\/span> per cent to between <span class=\"startxt\">*<\/span><span class=\"startxt\">*<\/span> and <span class=\"startxt\">*<\/span><span class=\"startxt\">*<\/span> per cent. The measures formed part of a wider effort to open the market, increase competition and reduce domestic clothing prices.<\/p>\n<p>Although import duties are not directly included in the declared customs value, the reduction lowered the landed cost of overseas apparel and made lower-priced global sourcing commercially more attractive.
