The July print exceeded market expectations and followed June<span class=\"startxt\">*<\/span><span class=\"startxt\">*<\/span>;s <span class=\"startxt\">*<\/span><span class=\"startxt\">*<\/span> per cent surge. Media coverage has framed it as evidence that exporters are accelerating US-bound shipments ahead of new tariffs.<\/p>\n<h3>\t<strong>China\u2019s export surge hides a Q<span class=\"startxt\">*<\/span> apparel demand risk<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>The surge is being driven overwhelmingly by advanced manufacturing. GACC data shows July semiconductor export value nearly doubled year on year, high-tech product exports rose <span class=\"startxt\">*<\/span><span class=\"startxt\">*<\/span>.<span class=\"startxt\">*<\/span> per cent, and vehicle exports increased <span class=\"startxt\">*<\/span><span class=\"startxt\">*<\/span> per cent in the first seven months of <span class=\"startxt\">*<\/span><span class=\"startxt\">*<\/span><span class=\"startxt\">*<\/span><span class=\"startxt\">*<\/span>. Textile and apparel account for only about <span class=\"startxt\">*<\/span> per cent of China<span class=\"startxt\">*<\/span><span class=\"startxt\">*<\/span>;s total merchandise exports and did not drive the headline. In the latest confirmed month, June, finished-apparel exports increased just <span class=\"startxt\">*<\/span>.<span class=\"startxt\">*<\/span> per cent year on year, according to the China Chamber of Commerce for Textile Exports (CCCT).<\/p>\n<p>For sourcing teams, the distinction is critical because aggregate trade growth can mask weakening garment flows.
