Fabric imports, however, rose faster at <span class=\"startxt\">*<\/span><span class=\"startxt\">*<\/span>.<span class=\"startxt\">*<\/span> per cent to $<span class=\"startxt\">*<\/span>.<span class=\"startxt\">*<\/span><span class=\"startxt\">*<\/span> billion, while yarn imports reached $<span class=\"startxt\">*<\/span>.<span class=\"startxt\">*<\/span><span class=\"startxt\">*<\/span> billion.<\/p>\n<p>Morocco generated a $<span class=\"startxt\">*<\/span>.<span class=\"startxt\">*<\/span><span class=\"startxt\">*<\/span> billion apparel trade surplus, but recorded deficits of $<span class=\"startxt\">*<\/span>.<span class=\"startxt\">*<\/span><span class=\"startxt\">*<\/span> billion in fabric, $<span class=\"startxt\">*<\/span><span class=\"startxt\">*<\/span><span class=\"startxt\">*<\/span>.<span class=\"startxt\">*<\/span><span class=\"startxt\">*<\/span> million in yarn and $<span class=\"startxt\">*<\/span><span class=\"startxt\">*<\/span>.<span class=\"startxt\">*<\/span><span class=\"startxt\">*<\/span> million in fibre. Across the four stages, the sector ran a net trade deficit of approximately $<span class=\"startxt\">*<\/span><span class=\"startxt\">*<\/span><span class=\"startxt\">*<\/span>.<span class=\"startxt\">*<\/span><span class=\"startxt\">*<\/span> million.<\/p>\n<p>Put differently, Morocco imported $<span class=\"startxt\">*<\/span><span class=\"startxt\">*<\/span><span class=\"startxt\">*<\/span>.<span class=\"startxt\">*<\/span><span class=\"startxt\">*<\/span> of yarn and fabric for every $<span class=\"startxt\">*<\/span><span class=\"startxt\">*<\/span><span class=\"startxt\">*<\/span> of apparel exported. This is an economy-wide dependence proxy, not the exact imported content of each garment, but its scale confirms the structural gap.
