UPI payments will soon work there too"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div data-article-id=\"19939964\">Indian travellers visiting Indonesia may soon be able to make digital payments more seamlessly, with India and Indonesia agreeing to integrate the Unified Payments Interface (UPI) with Indonesia&#8217;s payment system.<\/p>\n<p>Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the development after holding bilateral talks with Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto in Jakarta on Tuesday (July 7).<\/p>\n<p><iframe src=\"https:\/\/images.cnbctv18.com\/cnbc-assets\/html\/mutual-fund.html?v=7.9&amp;page_type=article\" title=\"embedded-content\" width=\"100%\" height=\"370px\" frameborder=\"0\" loading=\"lazy\" style=\"width:100%;overflow:hidden\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>\n&#8220;We are delighted that India&#8217;s UPI is set to integrate with Indonesia&#8217;s payment system. This will boost both ease of doing business and ease of travel,&#8221; Modi said in his media statement.<br \/>Once operational, the linkage is expected to allow travellers and businesses to make cross-border retail payments more conveniently by using their domestic payment apps, reducing reliance on cash and currency exchange for everyday transactions.<\/p>\n<p>The announcement came as the two countries signed nearly a dozen agreements to strengthen cooperation across sectors, including critical minerals, technology, food security, medicines, maritime security and defence.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Countries where UPI is available<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Indonesia will join a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbctv18.com\/personal-finance\/list-of-countries-with-upi-payments-travel-france-combodia-uae-nepal-ws-el-19921913.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">growing list of countries where India is expanding the reach of UPI-based payments.<\/a> UPI-linked payment acceptance is already available in countries such as Singapore, the UAE, France, Sri Lanka, Mauritius, Bhutan and Nepal, with India continuing to pursue similar cross-border payment partnerships with several other nations.<\/p>\n<p>The UPI expansion is part of India&#8217;s broader effort to make digital payments accessible for Indian travellers and businesses abroad while promoting faster and cheaper cross-border transactions.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><br \/>\n<br \/><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbctv18.com\/personal-finance\/travelling-to-indonesia-upi-payments-will-soon-work-there-too-19939964.htm\">Source link <\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Indian travellers visiting Indonesia may soon be able to make digital payments more seamlessly, with India and Indonesia agreeing to integrate the Unified Payments Interface (UPI) with Indonesia&#8217;s payment system.
