In January-April <span class=\"startxt\">*<\/span><span class=\"startxt\">*<\/span><span class=\"startxt\">*<\/span><span class=\"startxt\">*<\/span>, exports to the EU reached about $<span class=\"startxt\">*<\/span>.<span class=\"startxt\">*<\/span><span class=\"startxt\">*<\/span> billion, down <span class=\"startxt\">*<\/span>.<span class=\"startxt\">*<\/span> per cent. Germany, still the top market, fell <span class=\"startxt\">*<\/span><span class=\"startxt\">*<\/span> per cent to $<span class=\"startxt\">*<\/span><span class=\"startxt\">*<\/span><span class=\"startxt\">*<\/span>.<span class=\"startxt\">*<\/span> million. France dropped <span class=\"startxt\">*<\/span><span class=\"startxt\">*<\/span>.<span class=\"startxt\">*<\/span> per cent, Italy <span class=\"startxt\">*<\/span><span class=\"startxt\">*<\/span>.<span class=\"startxt\">*<\/span> per cent and Poland <span class=\"startxt\">*<\/span><span class=\"startxt\">*<\/span>.<span class=\"startxt\">*<\/span> per cent. TGSD\u2019s first-quarter read was even sharper: ready-to-wear exports were $<span class=\"startxt\">*<\/span>.<span class=\"startxt\">*<\/span><span class=\"startxt\">*<\/span> billion, EU exports fell <span class=\"startxt\">*<\/span>.<span class=\"startxt\">*<\/span> per cent, and Germany and Italy were each down <span class=\"startxt\">*<\/span><span class=\"startxt\">*<\/span> per cent.<\/p>\n<p>That matters because Turkiye\u2019s classic apparel model was built on Europe\u2019s need for speed. Its edge has been proximity, flexible manufacturing, shorter lead times and a deeper local textile base than many cut-make-trim competitors.
