With the inauguration of the 594-km Ganga Expressway by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, travel between Meerut and Prayagraj will drop from nearly 11 hours to around six.<\/p>\n<p>The six-lane, access-controlled corridor \u2014 expandable to eight lanes \u2014 links 12 districts across western, central and eastern Uttar Pradesh, allowing vehicles to travel at speeds of up to 120 kmph. The route cuts through key districts including Hapur, Bulandshahr, Amroha, Sambhal, Badaun, Shahjahanpur, Hardoi, Unnao, Raebareli and Pratapgarh.<\/p>\n<p>\nFor travellers, the impact goes beyond shorter travel time:<\/p>\n<ul><\/p>\n<li>Seamless long-distance drives: The expressway enables same-day travel across the state, making multi-city itineraries more feasible.<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>Better access from Delhi-NCR: New interchanges are expected to improve connectivity for those entering from western Uttar Pradesh.<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>Boost to religious tourism: Easier access to Prayagraj could ease travel during large gatherings like the Kumbh and Magh Mela.<\/li>\n<p><\/p>\n<li>Improved roadside infrastructure: Logistics hubs and industrial clusters along the route are likely to bring better rest stops, fuel stations and food options.<\/li>\n<p><\/ul>\n<p>\nThe expressway is also being positioned as a broader development corridor. Districts along the route are expected to see industrial growth, logistics hubs and new urban infrastructure. In places like Hapur and Unnao, this could translate into better amenities for travellers, while regions such as Sambhal and Amroha may see local crafts and produce reach wider markets.<\/p>\n<p>Built at an estimated cost of \u20b936,230 crore, the Ganga Expressway is among India\u2019s largest greenfield road projects.
