The Indian government has launched VoicEra at the India AI Impact Summit 2026 which is an open-source voice AI stack that will make it easy to build as well as deploy voice AI features in the country. Voice has become an understated success across platforms like WhatsApp and more, where people have skipped the typing\/chatting era and moved directly to voice to convey their message or do any task. <\/span><\/p>\n

Voice assistants from Google and even OpenAI have shown the level of convenience offered by the medium and the Indian government wants to tap into that reach and potential with locally-built AI voice models and tools that can be customised to work in local languages and also make it available for millions in the country.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
