Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday said only the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) genuinely cares about the welfare of West Bengal, and asserted that the people of the state will teach a lesson to the \u201cheartless” Trinamool Congress (TMC) and end its 15 years of \u201cMaha Jungle Raj”.<\/p>\n

While addressing a public gathering in Singur, Hooghly, PM Modi said that the massive crowd gathered there had only one demand \u2014 \u201casli parivartan” \u2014 and a clear desire to end what he described as \u201cMaha Jungle Raj.” He said people from all sections of society had come together with the hope of real change in the state.<\/p>\n

The Prime Minister said that under the BJP rule, Bengali was classified as a regional language, Durga Puja was given the UNESCO tag, and the statue of Netaji Chandra Bose was installed in front of India Gate on Kartavya Path in Delhi. He questioned why these measures were not implemented when the TMC was allied with the Congress government.<\/p>\n

PM Modi Assails TMC On Misgovernance<\/strong><\/p>\n

Prime Minister Modi said his constant endeavour was to serve the youth, farmers, mothers and sisters of West Bengal in every possible way. \u201cWhile it is understandable that they may have differences with Modi and the BJP, it is regrettable that the TMC\u2019s hostility is impacting the welfare of the state\u2019s citizens,” he added.<\/p>\n

He accused the TMC government of not cooperating with the BJP-led Centre for the welfare of the fishermen, which is why they were unable to avail the benefits of the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana. He claimed the TMC government was denying children to quality education in schools.<\/p>\n

\u201cTMC government should be punished for acting against the interests of Bengal\u2019s people,” he stated, adding that the state needs the double-engine government of the BJP to put it on the path of development.<\/p>\n
