Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar on Friday arrived in the national capital amid ongoing speculation and a power tussle within the state Congress over the Chief Minister\u2019s position. Soon after he landed in Delhi, the Deputy Chief Minister refused to get into details of his arrival and stated, \u201cI have come here to meet my party leaders.”<\/p>\n

Without elaborating further on the agenda of his visit, Shivakumar, when asked whether he discussed the leadership change issue with Rahul Gandhi, he said he \u201ccan\u2019t disclose” anything as it is between him, his party and Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.<\/p>\n

\u201cNot appropriate to disclose all those things. It\u2019s between me, the party high command and my Chief Minister,” Shivakumar was quoted as saying.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the Deputy Chief Minister had earlier clarified that there were no discussions regarding a change in the Chief Ministership during the recent visit of Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi to the state.<\/p>\n

Shivakumar had said that meetings held during Rahul Gandhi\u2019s visit were routine and conducted as per established protocol.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am Karnataka\u2019s Congress President, and he is the leader of the opposition. These meetings and talks are as per protocol; all this cannot be discussed in public\u2026 There are no such discussions (CM change). Rahul Gandhi has asked us to continue the good work, and we will work accordingly,” Shivakumar said.<\/p>\n

The developments come against the backdrop of speculation about a possible change in the state\u2019s leadership after the Congress government in Karnataka completed the halfway mark of its five-year term on November 20.<\/p>\n
