As the International Monetary Fund (IMF) on Thursday noted that India is the key growth engine for the world and the country\u2019s third-quarter growth came out stronger than expected, the Bharatiya Janata Party on Friday attacked Rahul Gandhi, terming it as terrible news for the Congress leader who has claimed that the Indian economy is \u201cdead”.<\/p>\n

Hitting out at the Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, BJP IT cell head Amit Malviya targeted Rahul Gandhi and said, \u201cThis is terrible news for Rahul Gandhi, who declared India\u2019s economy dead.”<\/p>\n

\u201cThe IMF says otherwise. Far from collapsing, India\u2019s economy is roaring, resilient, growing, and outperforming expectations. Yet again, the pessimism of the Congress leadership stands exposed, contradicted by global institutions and hard data,” he said in a post on X.<\/p>\n

BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla also slammed Rahul Gandhi, stating that the IMF has again fact-checked the Congress leader for saying that the Indian economy is dead. He further called Rahul Gandhi a modern-day Pinocchio and named him as \u201cBharat Badnami brigade leader”.<\/p>\n

IMF Says \u201cIndia Is A Key Growth Engine For The World”<\/h4>\n

India is the key growth engine for the world, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) said on Thursday, noting that the country\u2019s third-quarter growth came out stronger than expected. \u201cWhat we have seen in India is that India is a key growth engine for the world,” Julie Kozack, Director of IMF\u2019s Communications Department, told reporters at a news conference here on Thursday.<\/p>\n

She was responding to a query on the IMF\u2019s assessment of India\u2019s growth story in 2025.<\/p>\n

Kozack said the IMF\u2019s most recent assessment, conducted as part of its Article IV Staff Report, had projected India\u2019s growth for the 2025\u201326 fiscal year at 6.6 per cent, largely anchored in strong domestic consumption.<\/p>\n
